Dr. Crookes, born on April 10, 1935, began his medical career at the renowned West Minister Hospital in London. It was there that he met his beloved wife, Hazel, who was training to be a nurse at the time. Throughout his career, Dr. Crookes worked tirelessly as a general practitioner at Lombard Surgery in Newark, earning a reputation for his compassionate approach and unwavering commitment to his patients.

A Life Devoted to Others

Aside from his medical practice, Dr. Crookes also dedicated himself to various organizations, including St. John Ambulance. His selflessness and dedication to the community were recognized when he received an honorary doctorate from the Newark and Nottinghamshire Agricultural Society. In 1997, upon his retirement, he was awarded the prestigious Mayor’s Citizens Award for Community Service.
