Pablo Rivera : “Holyoke Man Arrested, Georgia Gun Seized: A Troubling Incident”

SPRINGFIELD, MA – A Holyoke resident, identified as 26-year-old Pablo Rivera, has been apprehended and faces numerous charges after a traffic stop conducted last week.

According to Massachusetts State Police, a trooper was patrolling I-91 in Springfield on Friday when he noticed a vehicle exhibiting erratic movements on the highway. The trooper decided to trail the car as it transitioned onto Route 5 in West Springfield. Eventually, the trooper attempted to initiate a stop, but Rivera allegedly continued driving through multiple side streets before eventually halting in a nearby parking lot.

During the interaction with Rivera, the trooper detected signs of both alcohol and narcotic impairment. An ensuing investigation, which included a field sobriety test, confirmed the presence of intoxication and subsequently led to Rivera’s arrest.

Notably, State Police discovered a loaded firearm inside the vehicle during an inventory search. The gun was reported stolen from Georgia, and Rivera did not possess the necessary licenses authorizing him to carry firearms.

Rivera now faces a series of charges, including speeding, violation of marked lanes, operating a vehicle under the influence of intoxicating substances, failure to comply with police orders, illegal possession of a firearm, possession of a large capacity feeding device, possession of ammunition without a Firearm Identification (FID) card, carrying a dangerous weapon, receiving stolen property exceeding $1,200 in value, and improper firearm storage.
