A man from Kennett, Missouri, has been arrested on a serious charge related to child pornography. The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control apprehended 31-year-old Matthew Hammond last week for his alleged involvement in promoting child pornography.

Authorities initiated the arrest after receiving information that Hammond had distributed child pornography files online. Investigators reached out to him on February 8th and subsequently executed a search warrant at his residence in Kennett. During the search, compelling evidence supporting the allegations was discovered.

Following his arrest, Hammond was taken into custody and transported to the Dunklin County Jail. He is currently being held on an $85,000 cash-only bond.

Names Released of Two People Involved in Murder-Suicide

In an update to a recent story, the identities of two individuals who tragically lost their lives in a murder-suicide have been released. According to Greene County Sheriff Brad Snyder, the incident occurred on February 5th, when Paragould Emergency Services received a call expressing concern about a friend who had not been in contact for several days.

A deputy responded to the call and upon arrival at the scene, observed a lifeless body inside the residence. Further investigation led to the discovery of two deceased individuals who had sustained fatal gunshot wounds. The victims have been identified as 51-year-old Rebecca Edwards from Jonesboro and 49-year-old Dewayne Parnell from Paragould.

According to Sheriff Snyder, Edwards suffered two gunshot wounds, while Parnell had a single gunshot wound to the head. Evidence collected at the scene strongly suggests that Parnell’s wound was self-inflicted. Preliminary findings from the autopsy confirm that this tragic incident was indeed a murder-suicide.

The HVAC-R program at the Technical Career Center aims to provide students with hands-on experience and training in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration. Previously, the program followed a five-year rotation to acquire updated units for students to practice servicing. One Fatality and Another Injured in Northeast Arkansas Crash

According to the Arkansas State Police, the incident occurred on Monday afternoon when 45-year-old Paul Barrett from Paragould was driving on Highway 135. Barrett’s vehicle hydroplaned, causing it to cross the centerline and collide with an oncoming vehicle.

The driver of the second vehicle, identified as 23-year-old Erica Edwards from Brookland, tragically lost her life in the crash. Paul Barrett sustained injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Motorists traveling on Missouri Route 51 in Butler County should be aware of upcoming lane reductions. The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has scheduled shoulder repairs, necessitating the closure of one lane.

The affected section of Highway 51 stretches from County Road 644 to County Road 659 near the town of Qulin. Weather permitting, MoDOT crews will be working on the repairs today and tomorrow from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day, ensuring minimal disruption to the flow of traffic.

Crews Working on Interstate 55 in Southeast Missouri

Motorists in Southeast Missouri are advised to exercise caution while driving on Interstate 55 this week. Contractor crews, contracted by the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), will be installing new signage along the right of way, resulting in reduced shoulders in certain areas.

The installation work will take place at various locations along Interstate 55, spanning from mile marker 6.8 to mile marker 86.
