Mariana M. Donovan Passes Away at the Age of 86
Mariana Malvina Baptiste Donovan, fondly known as “Mother,” passed away at the age of 86 on Tuesday, February 6. She was born to Christiana M. Rhymer Baptiste and Moses M. Baptiste, both of whom have preceded her in death.
A Life Well-Lived
Throughout her life, Mariana was a beloved mother to her five daughters: Deborah, Doreen, Donna Donovan, Durene Donovan Gruel, and Desiree Rucker-El. She also leaves behind three sons: Dale and Duane Donovan, and Dana Glasgow. Mariana was a cherished grandmother to 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her two sisters, Rosetta H. Milliner and Aurora E. Donovan, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Alethia A. Baptiste and Esther R. Faulkner, as well as her brother, Wilbert H. Baptiste.
Celebrating Mariana’s Life
A viewing will be held on Saturday, February 24, starting at 9 a.m. This will be followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m., which will take place at All Saints Cathedral Church. Mariana will be laid to rest at Eastern Cemetery, Smith Bay.
