Kolkata: In a gruesome and deeply unsettling incident, a man in West Bengal has shocked the nation by brutally beheading his wife using a sharp weapon. The horrifying act, which has left the community in a state of utter shock and disbelief, took place in the Patashpur area of the East Midnapore district.

The perpetrator, identified as Goutam Guchhait, heartlessly carried the severed head of his wife through the local neighborhood for a horrifying duration of approximately two hours. The ghastly scene left onlookers traumatized and prompted them to immediately inform the local authorities.

Law enforcement officials swiftly responded to the distressing situation and managed to apprehend Goutam Guchhait, who has now been taken into custody. Preliminary investigations suggest that the motive behind this heinous act was rooted in unresolved familial issues.

Providing further details, the police revealed that Goutam Guchhait took the life of his wife out of deep-seated family problems and subsequently carried out the brutal beheading. In a chilling statement, the authorities stated, “Following the horrendous act, the individual proceeded to Chistipur bus stop, where he brazenly wandered around the vicinity with the severed head from 12:20 PM to 1:45 PM.”

This unsettling incident is not an isolated case within the Indian subcontinent. Just earlier this month, a similarly shocking event unfolded in Tamil Nadu, where a man mercilessly killed his sister, beheaded her boyfriend, and even mutilated his own mother’s wrist when she attempted to intervene. This appalling episode occurred near Thirumangalam in Madurai. The accused, a 22-year-old, and his 25-year-old sister belonged to the Moopar caste, while the sister’s partner hailed from the Kallar caste (both non-dalits).
