Toronto law enforcement authorities have taken two individuals into custody and are actively pursuing a third suspect following a tragic incident that resulted in the death of a man during a violent altercation inside an apartment building located in the Weston neighbourhood over the weekend.

Responding to a distress call reporting an assault, officers swiftly arrived at the scene near the intersection of Weston Road and Lawrence Avenue West at approximately 6 a.m. on Saturday.

Toronto police are investigating a homicide near Weston Road and Lawrence Avenue West.

Upon arrival, law enforcement officials discovered a male victim, suffering from significant injuries. Tragically, the man’s life could not be saved, and he was pronounced deceased at the location.

Authorities have identified the victim as 27-year-old Edwin John Redmond, a resident of Toronto. Shockingly, Redmond is now the sixth homicide victim in the city this year.

Additionally, the police have successfully apprehended two suspects in connection with the incident. The individuals in custody are 27-year-old Zakkaria Wardere and 49-year-old Ninos Khoshaba. Both suspects face charges of second-degree murder. However, it is important to note that these charges have yet to be proven in a court of law.

While progress has been made in the investigation, law enforcement officials continue their relentless pursuit of a third suspect. The wanted individual is identified as 42-year-old Liban Mohamud and is currently the subject of a nationwide arrest warrant for second-degree murder.

Authorities issue a stern warning, advising the public not to approach Mohamud if encountered, but instead to immediately contact emergency services by dialing 9-1-1.
