ANGLETON, Texas — A devastating active shooter incident took place on February 12, 2024, at around 8:20 AM in the 900 block of S Velasco St, Angleton, Brazoria County, Texas. Upon immediate arrival, officers from the Angleton Police Department were confronted with a distressing scene, discovering two victims while learning that the perpetrator had fled from the location.

Both victims have been identified as Devin Murrell, aged 37, and Darla Murrell, aged 66. Despite being airlifted to a Houston hospital for urgent medical attention, the unfortunate truth unfolded as both victims succumbed to their injuries. The tragic loss of life has left the community devastated.

The suspect, 35-year-old Bradley Jones, was swiftly apprehended without incident at County Beach. This successful capture was made possible due to the coordinated efforts of various law enforcement agencies, including the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office, Precinct 1 Constable’s Office, Department of Public Safety (DPS), Texas Rangers, Brazoria County District Attorney’s Office, and Lake Jackson Police Department.

Bradley Jones now faces two counts of murder and is currently being held at the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office pending further legal proceedings.
