NEWTOWN, Ohio — A 48-year-old man sustained serious injuries on Tuesday night when his vehicle rolled over multiple times while attempting to flee from the police, as per the report by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.

At approximately 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, sheriff’s deputies observed a driver traveling at a high speed of 90 mph in the westbound direction on Beechmont Avenue. The deputy initiated a pursuit but was unable to apprehend the vehicle due to its dangerous driving behavior. Deputies managed to locate the vehicle for a second time on Beechmont Avenue near Corbly Road in Mt. Washington, initiating a second pursuit that quickly came to an end once again.

Deputies continued to follow the vehicle from a safe distance as it proceeded onto Batavia Pike. They were able to obtain the license plate number of the vehicle before initiating another pursuit into Newtown. However, due to the driver’s reckless behavior, including crossing the double yellow line, deputies had to slow down for the third time.

As the driver, identified as Bradford Henry, approached additional police units instructing him to stop, he narrowly avoided colliding with them before driving back down Batavia Pike without using headlights. While driving in this manner, Henry lost control of his vehicle and it rolled over multiple times in the vicinity of 6620 Batavia Pike.

Emergency responders had to use mechanical extrication techniques to free Henry from the wreckage. He was then airlifted to UC Medical Center in a “serious condition,” according to the sheriff’s office.

Despite wearing a seatbelt during the crash, the sheriff’s office suspects that speed and alcohol were contributing factors. The incident remains under investigation.

Following his treatment at the hospital, the sheriff’s office issued a warrant for Henry’s arrest for failure to comply with law enforcement orders or signals, which is a third-degree felony, as well as operating a vehicle under the influence (OVI), a first-degree misdemeanor. Henry is presently in custody at the Hamilton County Jail.
