Accident – Death – Obituary News :

An Indian-origin family from Kerala has tragically been found dead at their home in California, with the police investigating the case as a murder-suicide.

The family has been identified as Anand Sujith Henry, 42, his wife Alice Priyanka, 40, and their four-year-old twin children Noah and Neithan.

The bodies were discovered by the police after one of the family’s relatives requested a welfare check when no one in the house answered their call.

Investigation into the Tragic Incident

The San Mateo Police Department released a statement stating that the Indian-American couple, Anand and Alice, were found dead with gunshot wounds inside a bathroom. A nine-millimeter pistol and a loaded magazine were also found in the bathroom, according to News18.

San Mateo Police Department representative Jerami Surratt revealed on Facebook that they received a call requesting a welfare check on the family. Upon arrival, the officers searched the perimeter of the home and found an unlocked window. After entering the home, they discovered the four individuals deceased.

No suicide note was found at the scene, leaving the investigators to explore all possibilities.

Preliminary Analysis and Ongoing Investigation

While the police believe the incident may be a murder-suicide, they have not ruled out other options and continue to investigate the case.

The police released a statement stating, “Based on the information we have at this time, this appears to be an isolated incident with no danger to the public as we are confident the person responsible was located within the home.”

The San Mateo County Crime Lab and the Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) are collaborating to gather evidence in the case. The bodies have been taken into custody by the San Mateo County Coroner, who is in the process of positively identifying each person and notifying their next of kin.

Relatives of the family in India have received consular assistance from the Indian mission in the nation, according to media reports.

About the Deceased Couple

Anand and Alice, originally from Kerala’s Kollam district, had been residing in the United States for nine years, as reported by Hindustan Times.

Anand worked as a senior analyst, while Alice was a former manager of software engineering at Meta and Google. They were well-liked by their coworkers and neighbors, who described them as kind, hardworking, and loving parents, according to NDTV.

Both Anand and Alice were alumni of TKM Engineering College. Alice graduated with a degree in civil engineering, while Anand graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering, as reported by The New Indian Express.

Anand’s LinkedIn profile indicates that he also attended Carnegie Mellon University and Singapore Management University.

After leaving his position at Meta in June of last year, Anand founded his own artificial intelligence company, Logits. The company has gained recognition in the IT industry for its expertise in providing businesses with the ability to privately train and use Generative AI models for specific business requirements.

Prior to founding Logits, Anand had worked at Google, Salesforce, and CMU. He was the son of Henry George, the former principal of Kollam Fathima Mata National College, as reported by Hindustan Times.

Court documents show that Anand filed for divorce in December 2016, several years before their twins were born, but the divorce was not finalized.

Similar Incidents and Community Concerns

This tragic incident bears a resemblance to a recent event in Massachusetts, where a wealthy Indian-origin couple and their daughter were found dead at home.

Last year saw a significant number of murder-suicides within the Indian diaspora in the US, according to a report in The Times of India.

The international Indian community has also experienced other distressing incidents in the US recently. On February 10, a 41-year-old Indian-origin IT executive died after sustaining life-threatening injuries during an assault outside a restaurant in Washington. Last week, Purdue University student Sameer Kamath was found dead in Warren County. Neel Acharya, who had been missing in the US, was confirmed dead by university authorities last month. Vivek Saini, a resident of Haryana, died after being attacked 50 times with a hammer in Georgia’s Lithonia on January 16.

As the investigation into the tragic incident in California continues, the community and authorities hope for answers and solutions to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
