Indian Family Found Dead With Gunshot Wounds At Their $2 Million US Home

New Delhi:

An Indian-origin family from Kerala was discovered dead in their residence in California, United States. The tragic incident appears to be a case of murder-suicide. The deceased have been identified as Anand Sujith Henry, 42, his wife Alice Priyanka, 40, and their 4-year-old twin children Noah and Neithan.

The bodies of the family were found after a concerned relative requested a welfare check as there was no response from anyone inside the house.

Authorities found Anand and Alice dead with gunshot wounds inside a bathroom, while the twin children were found lifeless in a bedroom. The cause of death of the children is still under investigation.

The police stated, “After arriving, officers searched the premises and found no signs of forced entry. They entered the house through an unlocked window and discovered four deceased individuals – one adult male, one adult female, and two children.”

During the investigation, a 9mm pistol and a loaded magazine were recovered from the bathroom.

According to records, the couple purchased the house for $2.1 million in 2020.

Preliminary findings by the police suggest a possible murder-suicide, but other possibilities have not been ruled out.

The San Mateo police department stated, “Based on the information we have at this time, this appears to be an isolated incident with no danger to the public as we are confident the person responsible was located within the home.”

The family, originally from Kerala, had been residing in the United States for the past nine years. Anand, a software engineer, and Alice, a senior analyst, moved from New Jersey to San Mateo County two years ago. Described as friendly, hardworking, and devoted parents, the couple was well-liked by both neighbors and colleagues.

Court records indicate that Anand had initiated divorce proceedings in December 2016, but the separation was not finalized.

The San Mateo County’s Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) has taken over the case and is collaborating with the San Mateo County Crime Lab to gather evidence. The bodies have been entrusted to the San Mateo County Coroner, who is working on positive identification and notifying the next of kin.

This incident bears a striking resemblance to a recent case where a wealthy Indian-origin couple and their teenage daughter were found dead in their $5 million mansion in Massachusetts.

In the past month, there have been at least seven reported deaths of Indian-origin individuals in the United States. US envoy to India, Eric Garcetti, has reassured that the US is dedicated to maintaining its status as a safe destination for Indian students.
