Accident – Death – Obituary News : BIBB COUNTY, Ga. — A tragic incident unfolded in Bibb County, Georgia, on Valentine’s Day, resulting in the death of a 1-year-old child and the arrest of the child’s father on murder charges. In the early morning hours of February 14th, Bibb County deputies responded to a death call in the 2000 block of Old Clinton Road.
The authorities had also been alerted to a disturbance in the 3800 block of Flamingo Drive around midnight. Janet Dorn, a woman at the scene, was found injured from a violent altercation. Dorn’s daughter, Shandrea Spencer, who had called to report the incident, was present as well. According to Dorn, the man who had assaulted her had also taken her 1-year-old granddaughter.
The man was identified as Akiem Jamal Jordan, a 19-year-old resident of Macon. Shockingly, Jordan turned out to be the child’s father. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office immediately issued a “Be On The Lookout” alert for Jordan and provided a description of a white vehicle in which he was believed to be traveling with another individual named Rahem Devar Ferrell, a 20-year-old from Macon.
Deputies successfully located Jordan and Ferrell at 3:03 a.m. During the encounter, the 1-year-old child was found unresponsive in Jordan’s arms. Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley arrived at the scene and pronounced the child dead. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
As a result of further investigation, both Jordan and Ferrell were subsequently taken into custody and transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center. Ferrell now faces charges of murder and two counts of aggravated assault, while Jordan has been charged with murder and three counts of aggravated assault. Both individuals are being held without bond.
Janet Dorn, the injured woman involved in the initial disturbance, was taken to a medical facility for treatment. Thankfully, she is currently in stable condition.
