Crash Details

Sgt. Gutierrez stated that Ramirez Garcia was taken into custody on a warrant for criminally negligent homicide, following a thorough investigation into a crash that occurred in Archer County on October 20, 2023.

The fatal crash, previously reported by Texoma’s Homepage, involved three vehicles and took place shortly after 12:30 p.m. on October 20, 2023. The incident occurred in Archer County, just half a mile north of Windthorst near the Dollar General on US 281.

According to the preliminary crash report from the DPS, a 2019 Nissan Kicks driven by a 17-year-old female from Windthorst was traveling north on US 281 and slowing down when it was rear-ended by a 2020 Ford F250 driven by Ramirez Garcia, identified as a 65-year-old male from Graham.

Upon impact, the Nissan was spun into oncoming traffic in the southbound lanes of US 281 and was subsequently struck by a 2014 Chevrolet Malibu driven by a 21-year-old female from Fort Worth.

A press release from Constable Donald Stevens with the Archer County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Deputy Coleman, the girl’s father, tragically lost his daughter in the accident.

Legal Proceedings

Following his arrest, Ramirez Garcia was taken to the Archer County Jail without any issues. The case will now be presented to the Archer County District Attorney’s Office for further action.
