In a series of notable incidents, the Saskatoon Police Service has highlighted the instrumental role of their air support plane, which played a “pivotal role” in the successful arrest of four suspects over the weekend.

The first incident occurred on Sunday evening at approximately 8:30 p.m. when officers responded to a report of an altercation on Confederation Drive. A man had been stabbed, and a woman had suffered an assault. Although the 17-year-old suspect had fled the scene before the arrival of the police, the Aerial Support Unit effectively tracked him down. The suspect was subsequently charged with aggravated assault, while the stabbing victim received prompt medical attention at a local hospital.

The second incident unfolded just a few hours later on Avenue O South, following another reported altercation. As police were en route, the ASU successfully traced a suspect to the 100 block of Ave O South, where they observed him discarding an object on the ground. Upon examination, it was revealed that the item in question was a sawed-off rifle. An 18-year-old man was apprehended and charged with possessing a weapon dangerous to the public, concealing a weapon, and breaching court orders.

In two separate cases that occurred during the early morning hours of Monday, the Air Support Unit was instrumental in tracking down two stolen vehicles. As a result, a 25-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man were apprehended and taken into custody.
