Introduction
A devastating road accident in Chennai resulted in the untimely demise of a 20-year-old college student, R Samuel, and his father, A Robert (55), on Sunday. The incident occurred on the Maduravoyal-Nolambur service road when a recklessly driven sewage tanker lorry collided with their two-wheeler from behind.
The Victims
The deceased, hailing from Nungambakkam, were on their way to a Church located in Adayalampattu near Maduravoyal when tragedy struck. Samuel, a second-year B Tech student at a private university, aspired to excel in his academic pursuits, while his father worked as a swimming pool maintenance person at an apartment complex in Egmore.
The Incident
The fatal accident occurred around 9 am as Samuel was riding their bike along the service road. Suddenly, the tanker lorry behind them collided with their vehicle, causing both father and son to be forcefully thrown off their bike and onto the ground.
The Impact
Despite Samuel wearing a helmet, the force of the collision inflicted severe head injuries on him. Tragically, both Samuel and his father succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
Investigation and Action Taken
The Koyambedu Traffic Investigation Wing Police have registered a case in relation to the accident and are currently conducting a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause and hold the responsible parties accountable for their negligence.
