WRNJ Radio News : “Police Chase Ends in Crash on I-80: 3 in Custody”

PARSIPPANY-TROY HILLS, NJ (Morris County) – Authorities have successfully apprehended three suspects following a high-speed police chase that ended in a crash on Interstate 80 early Saturday morning, according to a recent update on the Mountain Lakes Police Facebook page.

On the early morning of February 10th, at approximately 3:12 a.m., the Mountain Lakes Police Department received a notification from the Boonton Police Department regarding their involvement in a high-speed pursuit, as reported by the local authorities.

Despite the police’s decision to terminate the chase, the suspect vehicle ended up crashing on Interstate 80 in Parsippany-Troy Hills, causing significant damage, according to official police statements.

The driver, identified as an 18-year-old male from Bloomfield, fled the scene immediately following the accident, leaving behind a mangled vehicle, as described by the authorities.

Mountain Lakes officers promptly initiated a search operation and were able to locate the driver on Parsippany Boulevard in Parsippany-Troy Hills, ultimately resulting in his arrest. The swift action from law enforcement ensured the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

During the subsequent investigation, it was revealed that the vehicle had been stolen without the owner’s consent. Shockingly, a loaded handgun was discovered inside the stolen vehicle, raising concerns about the potential dangers posed by the suspects.

All three suspects involved in this harrowing incident were arrested and subsequently transported to the hospital for treatment of their injuries sustained during the crash, as confirmed by the authorities.
