Comanche County, UK – The fourth and final week of trials is set to commence on Monday, as a new group of potential jurors is called to duty for the felony docket in Comanche County. This week’s trials will shine a spotlight on cases involving manslaughter, accessory to murder, and child sexual abuse.

A Convicted Killer Faces Trial for Being an Accessory to Murder

On Monday, a 30-year-old convicted killer, Tevin Jamal Anderson, will stand trial in Comanche County Presiding Judge Emmit Tayloe’s court. Anderson is charged with being an accessory to first-degree murder for his involvement in the shooting death of Richard E. Anderson, 49, of Lawton, which occurred on April 18, 2021.

In June 2023, Zaire Ameri Brown, 19, of Lawton, pleaded guilty to felony counts of first-degree murder — deliberate intent, and possession of a firearm after delinquent adjudication. Brown received 25 years in prison for the murder count and another five years for the gun charge. The incident occurred outside Phillips 66 on 1202 Cache Road, where a verbal argument between Tevin Anderson, Richard Anderson, and another man escalated. According to investigators who reviewed the store security video, Brown walked up behind Richard Anderson and shot him multiple times in the back and neck.

It is worth noting that Tevin Anderson was previously found guilty of the premeditated shooting death of Jennifer Gibson, 47, on the same morning of April 18, 2021. He was also convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm, as he was on probation for a federal weapons charge at the time of the killing. During police interviews, Anderson admitted to shooting Gibson to death and claimed that “God told me to do that … God told me she’s the devil.”

Jury Selection Begins for Father Accused of Allowing Daughter’s Death

Jury selection is scheduled to start on Tuesday in District Judge Jay Walker’s courtroom for the trial of Henry Clarence Lilly III, 54. Lilly is accused of allowing his 3-year-old daughter to die from a 17-pound tumor in January 2019. He will face a count of first-degree manslaughter, which carries a potential sentence of four years to life in prison.

Lilly’s wife, Bonnie Beth Mills-Lilly, 46, is also charged with the same crime. The couple is accused of failing to provide medical care to their daughter, resulting in her death. The State Medical Examiner’s autopsy report confirms that Bonnie Beth Lilly died on January 3, 2019, due to rhabdomyosarcoma, a type of cancer that affects soft tissue, connective tissue, or bone. The autopsy revealed that the 17-pound tumor comprised half of the girl’s body weight.

According to the charges, the Comanche County Sheriff’s Office received a call on January 3, 2019, alerting them to an unconscious but breathing girl at a camper home near Lake Lawtonka. Responders discovered her and six other children living with her parents in a camper. Despite being taken to a local hospital, the girl could not be saved. The parents were subsequently arrested, and their other children were placed into DHS custody.

While the couple had initially been released on $60,000 bonds, they were recommitted to jail in January 2021. However, in March 2021, they were released again on a reduced $40,000 bond. The Lillys have since relocated to Archer, Fla. Bonnie Beth Mills-Lilly is expected to stand trial during the upcoming April/May jury trial docket.

Trial of Man Accused of Sexual Assault on a Minor Set to Begin

Starting Wednesday, District Judge Scott D. Meaders’ court will seat its jury for the trial of James Joseph Jones, 40. Jones is accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl and faces two felony counts of lewd or indecent acts to a child under 16. If convicted, he could face a sentence ranging from three to 20 years in prison.

The warrant affidavit reveals that the teen girl disclosed to her mother that Jones had sexually assaulted her in October 2022. The girl stated that when her mother was at work, Jones would force her to engage in unwanted activities. She further alleged that he repeatedly touched and kissed her body inappropriately.

Records indicate that Jones has a prior felony conviction in Comanche County from January 2009 for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Since his initial court appearance in April 2023, he has been held on a $75,000 bond.

It is important to note that all cases are subject to change due to potential last-minute pleas or continuances.

Stay tuned for further updates on these trials as the final week unfolds in Comanche County.
