Accident – Death – Obituary News :

The Collier County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that one of the survivors of the tragic plane crash on I-75 in Collier County on Friday is a 23-year-old woman from Jupiter. Sydney Ann Bosmans was one of three individuals who managed to escape from the eight-seater jet that crash-landed near Naples on Friday afternoon.

The pilot, identified as Edward Daniel Murphy, 50, from Oakland Park, Florida, and the second in command, Ian Frederick Hofmann, 65, from Pompano Beach, Florida, unfortunately did not survive the crash. The identities of the two deceased individuals have been tentatively released by investigators.

According to witnesses, Bosmans and the others who managed to exit the plane were able to walk and talk as they moved away from the fiery crash. Emergency services quickly transported them to a nearby hospital, although the current condition of Bosmans has not been disclosed by the sheriff’s office.

The incident occurred around 3:15 p.m. when the Bombardier Challenger 600 jet crash-landed in the southbound lanes of I-75 near the Golden Gate Parkway exit. The pilot and co-pilot lost their lives in the crash, while a pickup truck driver on the highway sustained injuries but is expected to recover. Alongside Bosmans, two other survivors from Columbus, Ohio, were identified as Aaron Baker, 35, and Audra Green, 23.

The ill-fated jet had departed from Columbus, Ohio, and was en route to Naples Airport when the pilot reported a complete loss of power in both engines to air traffic control. In an attempt to salvage the situation, the pilot made the decision to perform a crash landing, which unfortunately resulted in the tragedy. The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board have taken charge of the investigation into the crash.

As a result of the incident, the southbound lanes of I-75 near the crash site remain closed. Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes to avoid any disruptions in their travel plans while authorities continue their investigation and work towards reopening the affected section of the highway.
