The incident occurred at 3287 Queens Avenue, and it involved a 2023 model Can Am Maverick, which was being operated by 25-year-old Ross W. Barker, a resident of Jewell.

According to the preliminary investigation, the Can Am Maverick was traveling northbound on Queens Avenue when it suddenly swerved and veered into the west ditch. As a result, the vehicle overturned, causing significant damage and injury. Cody D. Haugen, a 24-year-old passenger from Colo, Iowa, sustained severe injuries in the accident.

Due to the seriousness of his injuries, Haugen was promptly transported to Iowa Methodist Medical Hospital in Des Moines for immediate medical treatment.
