Flowery Branch, Georgia – In a harrowing incident of road rage, a man in Flowery Branch reportedly brandished a firearm after being overtaken by another driver on the interstate. The Flowery Branch Police Department responded promptly to the victim’s distress call.
The victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, recounted the events leading up to the confrontation. While traveling on I-985 southbound, the victim overtook a white pickup truck. This seemingly innocuous maneuver triggered an aggressive response from the truck driver.

Enraged, the truck driver began tailgating the victim, endangering both their lives and the lives of other motorists on the busy highway. The situation escalated further when the victim decided to exit onto Phil Niekro Blvd. and seek refuge at a nearby gas station.
However, to his horror, the aggressive driver followed him to the gas station parking lot, refusing to let the incident end peacefully. In a terrifying turn of events, the driver, later identified as 30-year-old Preston Sweatman from Buford, proceeded to retrieve a firearm from his vehicle and threatened to kill the victim.
Investigation and Arrest
Flowery Branch police took immediate action, launching an investigation into the incident. Reviewing video footage from the area, investigators gathered crucial evidence to support the victim’s claims. Subsequently, arrest warrants were issued for Preston Sweatman, charging him with aggravated assault.
Sweatman was apprehended on February 7 and taken into custody at the Hall County Jail. However, he has since been released on bail pending further legal proceedings.
