A devastating Russian drone attack on the city of Kharkiv late on February 9 has claimed the lives of a district prosecutor, her husband, and their three young children, according to a report by the Prosecutor General’s Office on February 10.
The horrifying attack targeted a gas station in Kharkiv, resulting in a massive fire that engulfed 15 homes and tragically killed at least seven people. Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov later reported that the attack had left 57 people injured, prompting him to declare February 11 as a day of mourning in the city.
The woman identified as Olha Putiatina, who worked as a prosecutor at the District Prosecutor’s Office in Chuhuiv, a city in Kharkiv Oblast, since 2012, was among the victims. She was only 35 years old. The couple’s three sons, named Oleksii (7), Mikhailo (4), and Pavlo (10 months), also lost their lives in the tragic incident.
The entire staff of the prosecutor’s office expressed their deepest condolences to the grieving family and friends.
Another couple also lost their lives in the attack. The official identification of the bodies is currently underway, with their son providing a DNA sample for the identification process, according to Serhii Bolvinov, the head of the investigative department of the regional police.
Tragically, the intensity of the fire was so extreme that the body of a baby found at the scene was almost reduced to ashes, making the identification process extremely challenging. DNA samples have been collected and sent to a mobile DNA laboratory to confirm the identities of the victims.
The police, based on the evidence collected from the site, have determined that the fire was caused by the detonation of three Shahed-type attack drones, which were launched from Russia.

The girl was likely the daughter of a woman previously found dead under the rubble of an apartment building damaged in the attack, according to Serhii Bolvinov, the head of the investigative department of the regional police.
