According to an official press release, the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office received an alert regarding a vehicle with a South Carolina registration entering Henderson County. The vehicle was registered to a 54-year-old individual named Patrick Mack, who was wanted in Louisiana for Felony Theft and Criminal Conspiracy.

In response, an officer located Mack’s vehicle at the Sugar Mill Inn on US 41 North. Upon approaching the vehicle, officers from the Henderson Police Department discovered three men inside.

The three individuals were identified as 71-year-old Thomas Riley, 34-year-old Pete Mack, and 60-year-old Thomas Mack.

Authorities revealed that Patrick Mack was found in the motel lobby, having just purchased two rooms. A diligent detective from the HCSO discovered that Patrick had concealed zip lock bags filled with valuable jewelry in a nearby trash can.

Upon conducting a warrant check on all four men, it was revealed that each of them was wanted in Louisiana by the DeRiddler Police Department on charges of Felony Theft and Criminal Conspiracy.

The bond for each fugitive was set at $250,000, resulting in a collective bond amounting to a staggering $1 million.

Without delay, the fugitives, along with the recovered stolen jewelry, were promptly placed under arrest and subsequently booked into the Henderson County Detention Center.

Irish Travelers are notorious for targeting vulnerable elderly individuals, gaining access to their homes by posing as salesmen and then stealing from them. Detectives involved in the case confirmed that the four fugitives were actively engaged in this very same criminal scheme.

The successful arrest of these Louisiana fugitives has undoubtedly brought relief to the community, ensuring the safety and security of its residents, particularly the elderly who have been the primary targets of the Irish Travelers’ criminal activities.
