The incident unfolded on Wednesday evening when law enforcement authorities swiftly responded to a ShotSpotter activation in the Oak Street area. The ShotSpotter technology detected a single round being fired at approximately 9:21 p.m., prompting officers to quickly arrive at the scene.
Arrest of Jonathan Ramos
As officers arrived in the vicinity, the Emergency Communication Center relayed crucial information regarding a suspect who discharged a firearm into the air before heading towards Lexington Avenue. Law enforcement officers diligently canvassed the area and successfully detained an individual who matched the suspect’s description on Lexington Avenue near Harral Avenue. The arrested individual was identified as Jonathan Ramos, a 41-year-old resident of Bridgeport.
During a subsequent pat-down search, officers discovered a loaded five-cylinder revolver containing four live rounds, as well as an empty shell casing. Additionally, a further search led to the seizure of fifty prescription pills, which were found outside their original container, and approximately 15 grams of fentanyl.
White SUV Linked to the Incident
As the investigation progressed, the Bridgeport Police Fusion Center provided information on a white SUV believed to be connected to the shots-fired incident. Officers located the vehicle and apprehended two individuals who were inside. During a search of the SUV, law enforcement discovered a loaded black firearm lacking a serial number, along with a large-capacity magazine attached to it. The two men were identified as Curtis Grant, a 41-year-old resident of Bridgeport, and Tyreek Anslem, a 27-year-old individual from New York.
Illegal Possession of Weapons and Ammunition
It is crucial to note that both Jonathan Ramos and Curtis Grant are convicted felons, making it unlawful for them to possess firearms and ammunition.
