A Bronzeville resident has been charged in connection with an armed robbery that took place on a CTA platform on the North Side in January, according to the Chicago Police Department.

The incident occurred on January 28 at approximately 5:30 a.m. The suspect, armed with a chemical irritant, targeted a 23-year-old individual, inflicting harm by spraying the irritant on him, before forcefully seizing his belongings. The incident unfolded on the CTA platform situated in the 1100 block of West Granville Avenue.

After an extensive investigation, law enforcement officials were able to apprehend the alleged robber on Friday. The arrest took place in the 2700 block of California Avenue. The suspect was positively identified as the individual responsible for the January armed robbery.

Authorities have identified the suspect as John Wesley, a 24-year-old resident of Bronzeville. Wesley has been charged with armed robbery, specifically, using a dangerous weapon other than a firearm.

Wesley is scheduled to appear at a detention hearing on Saturday, where further legal proceedings will take place.
