Accident – Death – Obituary News : Pillager, MN (KROC-AM News)- A school bus carrying nearly three-dozen students was involved in a two-vehicle collision in northern Minnesota on Friday. The incident occurred in the small town of Pillager, which is approximately 18 miles west of Brainerd. The State Patrol promptly responded to the crash that took place shortly before 8 a.m.

According to the state crash report, the school bus was traveling west on Hwy. 210 when it attempted to make a left turn onto Cass County Rd. 1. It was during this turn that the bus made contact with an eastbound van hauling a trailer. The road conditions at the time were treacherous, with snow and ice covering the surface.

The bus driver, identified as 73-year-old John Gordon Peterson from Cushing, MN, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported from the crash scene to a nearby hospital for treatment. Similarly, the van driver, 45-year-old Jeremy Lee Trebesch of Pillager, was also taken to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Out of the 34 juveniles on board the school bus, three were injured in the crash. Fortunately, their injuries were minor, and they did not require transportation to a hospital. Authorities confirmed that alcohol was not a factor in the collision.
