Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A Tolleson family is desperate for answers and justice after their beloved family member was tragically found dead in Phoenix. The victim, identified as 44-year-old Erik Lagunas, was discovered inside a crashed van near 23rd and Fillmore Streets on February 5th.

Authorities responded to reports of shots fired in the area around 2 p.m. When they arrived, they encountered a van that had collided with an electrical pole, causing power lines to come down. Due to the live power lines posing a danger, officers were unable to immediately reach the driver.

“When they arrived, officers found the vehicle into the pole and were unable to reach the driver due to the live power lines around the collision,” explained Phoenix Police Sgt. Phil Krynsky.

Arizona Public Service (APS) crews promptly arrived to deactivate the power lines, allowing firefighters to access the victim. Unfortunately, Lagunas was pronounced dead at the scene. The discovery of several shell casings further heightened the investigation into the incident.

Lagunas’ devastated family members are struggling to comprehend the tragic loss and are pleading for justice. They believe he was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.

“He didn’t deserve any of this to happen to him,” expressed Maritza Alarcon, Lagunas’ daughter, filled with grief. She is determined to uncover the identity of those responsible for her father’s untimely death.

“You have no idea what you’ve done to all of us,” Alarcon tearfully stated. “We just want justice. They just left him there all by himself, like he was nobody, and he was everything to all of us.”

Alarcon emphasized that her father was the sole provider for the family, describing him as a loyal husband, brother, father, and grandfather.

“He lived for us. He lived for my mom, and he lived for his mom and his family,” Alarcon shared. “We just want him home, and he’s never coming back.”
