Memphis Police Investigate Murder at Frayser Tax Service

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – In a shocking incident, two individuals have been charged with the murder of an employee at A Better Day Tax Solutions in Frayser. The suspects allegedly shot and killed the victim, Charles Patterson, before searching his pockets and stealing the keys to his car.

Discovery of the Crime Scene

The Memphis Police Department received a distress call at 8:21 AM on Monday reporting a possible crime at the tax service’s location on Frayser Boulevard. The victim’s girlfriend had discovered Patterson’s lifeless body inside the premises and immediately contacted emergency services.

Details of the Crime

Upon arrival, law enforcement officers discovered Charlie Patterson lying dead on the floor, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the back of his head. Patterson’s girlfriend informed the police that he had not returned home the previous night, prompting her to visit his workplace, where she made the tragic discovery.

Shockingly, Patterson’s red Mercedez Benz was nowhere to be found at the scene, suggesting a potential motive for the crime.

Surveillance Footage Reveals the Culprits

Investigators reviewed the surveillance footage from the tax service, which captured the entire incident. The footage shows Patterson engaged in a conversation with two unidentified men for approximately 15 minutes. Suddenly, one of the men pulls out a handgun and fatally shoots Patterson in the back of his head while his back is turned to them.

Following the shooting, the second suspect proceeds to search Patterson’s pockets, taking his personal belongings and the keys to his red Mercedez Benz. Both individuals then flee the scene using Patterson’s car as their getaway vehicle.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered; Suspects Detained

After rigorous investigation, the police located the stolen car in an undisclosed location on Thursday. Additionally, they apprehended two men who were found in close proximity to the vehicle. The suspects have been identified as 19-year-old Isaiah Williams, the shooter, and 20-year-old Marquel Anderson, who rummaged through Patterson’s body.

It is important to note that both Williams and Anderson had active arrest warrants, unrelated to this incident. They have now been charged with first-degree murder in perpetration of a robbery and especially aggravated robbery.

Legal Proceedings

Pending their court appearance, both individuals are currently being held without bond. They are scheduled to appear in court on Monday morning to face the charges brought against them.
