Brandi, whose teams achieved an impressive .914 winning percentage over 17 seasons and secured three national championships, left behind a remarkable legacy.
A True Champion
Under Brandi’s exceptional leadership, the Florida Gators claimed a total of 14 Southeastern Conference regular-season titles and 10 conference tournament crowns. Their crowning achievements came in 1992, ’96, and ’98 when they clinched the national titles, solidifying their status as a force to be reckoned with in college tennis.
Former Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley spoke highly of Brandi, stating, “Simply put, Andy Brandi was a winner in every sense of the word. He was one of my all-time favorite coaches here.” His impact on the team and the university as a whole was truly remarkable.

Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in 1952, Brandi’s love for tennis began at an early age. He attended Trinity College in San Antonio, Texas, where he played on the men’s tennis team. After graduating with a business degree, Brandi decided to pursue a career in coaching.
Prior to his tenure at Florida, Brandi served as the executive director of the IMG Bollettieri Tennis Academy in Bradenton. At the age of 33, Florida recognized his exceptional talent and hired him as the women’s tennis coach.

On Thursday, the tennis community was devastated to learn of Brandi’s passing. He succumbed to an illness in Boca Raton, according to the Gators. As of now, the exact cause of his illness remains unknown.
