Born on October 1, 1909, in Evansville, Indiana, Pearl Berg was the daughter of Archie Synenberg and Annie Gerson. She grew up in Pittsburgh and later moved to Los Angeles with her family, including her sister and brother. It was in Los Angeles where she met her future husband, Mark Berg, a Jewish immigrant from Ukraine.

In 1931, Pearl married Mark, and together they built a life filled with love, joy, and accomplishments. Mark worked as an investor and businessman while Pearl focused on raising their two sons, Dr. Alan Paul Berg and Robert Joel Berg.

A Life Well-Lived

After the passing of her beloved husband in 1989, Pearl found solace in various activities that enriched her life. She joined a book club, attended concerts and plays, and even became an active member of a bridge group. Her vibrant spirit and zest for life were evident as she continued to drive until her mid-90s.

As a dedicated member of the Sisterhood of Temple Israel of Hollywood, Pearl contributed greatly to her community. For many years, she wrote heartfelt notes to bereaved families on behalf of the temple, providing comfort and support during difficult times. Her dedication to this task continued until the remarkable age of 105.

Pearl also generously gave her time and resources to several Jewish organizations, including the Nordea Chapter of Hadassah and the Sisterhood of Temple Israel of Hollywood. She was a staunch supporter of Israel and took pride in her heritage.

Pearl Berg’s passing leaves a void in the lives of her loved ones. She is survived by her two sons, Dr. Alan Paul Berg and Robert Joel Berg, as well as her grandchild, Belinda Berg.
