Dr. Ahmed Mustapha, a former Minister of Youth and Sports, has sadly passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2024.

According to a report by the Herald newspaper, Dr. Ahmed Mustapha succumbed to a long-term illness that had plagued him for several months.

Dr. Ahmed Mustapha, aged 63 at the time of his passing, served as Ghana’s sports minister in 2015, holding the position for eight months.

He took over from Mahama Ayariga in 2015, following the controversy surrounding the budget for the Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

Prior to his role as Sports Minister, Dr. Ahmed Mustapha was a Member of Parliament for the Ayawaso East Constituency from 2001 to 2013, representing the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Additional information provided by The Herald reveals that Dr. Ahmed Mustapha was a retired military officer and a dentist who worked at the 37 Military Hospital. He also established and operated a dental clinic in Maamobi, Accra.

He is survived by his wife and three children.
