In a sad turn of events, the legal fraternity mourns the loss of Prof. Yusuf Dankofa, a prominent lawyer who had gained recognition for his exceptional legal skills and contributions to the field. Born in 1963 in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State, Prof. Dankofa hailed from Kano State. He embarked on his academic journey at Omolewa Nursery and Primary School in Oritamefa, Ibadan, and later attended Ahmadiyya Grammar School, now known as Anwar Islam Grammar School, Eleyele, Ibadan.

Prof. Dankofa’s passion for law led him to pursue an LL.B Hons in Law from the University of Sokoto, now known as Usman Danfodiyo University, in 1987. He further honed his legal skills at the Nigerian Law School, Lagos, earning his Bachelor of Law in 1988. He began his illustrious career in academia in 1989 when he joined the Faculty of Law at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria. Through his dedication and expertise, he eventually rose to the esteemed position of Professor of Law in 2015.

Throughout his career, Prof. Dankofa demonstrated a deep commitment to social justice, with a particular focus on International Human Rights Law and Development Law. He tirelessly advocated for the rights of indigenous peoples and promoted socio-economic inclusion. His contributions to the legal field, especially in the areas of social justice and the protection of human rights, earned him widespread respect and admiration.
