David Gerard Mudd, Beloved Furniture Retailer, Passes Away at 63
OWENSBORO, Ky. — David Gerard Mudd, a prominent figure in the furniture industry and owner of Mudd’s Furniture in Owensboro, has sadly passed away at the age of 63. His death occurred on January 27, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and dedication to his community.
A Life of Service and Generosity
David Mudd was born on March 18, 1960, to Lawrence and Mary Mudd. He grew up in Owensboro and attended Owensboro Catholic High School, where he developed a passion for helping others. After graduating, he furthered his education at Christ the Nations Bible College.
In 1951, David’s parents founded Mudd’s Furniture, a beloved local establishment that became a staple in the community. Following in their footsteps, David took over the family business, ensuring its continued success and growth over the years.
However, David’s impact extended far beyond the walls of his furniture store. In 1995, he founded God’s Outreach Inc., a non-profit organization aimed at providing essential supplies and assistance to food banks and schools in the tri-state area. David’s dedication to helping others was evident in his involvement with various relief efforts, including those following Hurricane Katrina, the Dakotas Indian Reservation, tornadoes, and the Dismas Charities.
A Heartfelt Goodbye
David Mudd’s passing is felt deeply by his loved ones, including his wife, Deborah Ann Boarman, their four children, and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 1, at The Father’s House Church located at 3031 Bittel Rd, Owensboro, Ky. Following the service, David will be laid to rest at St. Mary Magdalene Cemetery. Prior to the funeral, visitation hours will be held from 12-6 p.m. on Wednesday, January 31, at James H. Davis Funeral Home.
