Jimy Williams managed the Red Sox from 1997 to 2001, during which he achieved remarkable success. Under his leadership, the team made back-to-back playoff appearances, including a memorable trip to the 1999 American League Championship Series. Although they fell short to the New York Yankees in five games, Williams’ efforts were recognized as he was voted the AL Manager of the Year that season.
Despite the Red Sox winning four World Series titles since his departure, Jimy Williams remains the last manager of the team to have received this prestigious award.
