Jim Orcutt, the founder of On the Street Ministry and My Brother’s Keeper, passed away on January 22, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and service. Born in Weymouth in 1940, Jim grew up in a humble family, facing financial difficulties and sharing a bed with his siblings. Despite his challenging upbringing, Jim developed a deep empathy for those less fortunate, especially the homeless population.
Four years ago, Jim and his wife Terry Orcutt started the On the Street Ministry, an initiative aimed at serving Brockton’s homeless community. Every Saturday morning, they would venture into the city with a packet containing a prayer card, $10 in cash, and a $10 Dunkin’ gift card.
