It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Diane Callahan-Caro, a cherished resident of Putnam County. Diane, 69, peacefully left this world on Friday, January 19, in Newark, New Jersey. Her obituary, which can be found here, pays tribute to her remarkable life.
Diane was born in Morristown, New Jersey in 1954. She grew up in the area and went on to graduate from Lakeland High School in Shrub Oak in 1972. Her thirst for knowledge led her to pursue a bachelor’s degree from Briarcliff College, a milestone she proudly achieved.
In 1978, Diane married the love of her life, John Caro, in Peekskill. The couple shared a beautiful journey together, residing in Yorktown for an incredible 45 years. Diane’s entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly as she owned and operated both Romancing the Home, a craft store, and Callahan’s Sports Cards, a card store.
In 2015, Diane and John decided to make Brewster their new home, where they continued to build a life filled with love and joy. Diane’s obituary highlights her passion for cartography and crafting, which she pursued with unwavering dedication.
Diane leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She is survived by her beloved husband, John, their daughter Megan Miller, and her husband, John Miller. Diane’s brother, Brad Callahan, also mourns her loss, along with her precious grandchildren, Adeline and Jackson.
To honor Diane’s life, a memorial visitation will take place on Saturday, February 10, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Beecher Funeral Home in Brewster, located at 1 Putnam Ave. A memorial service will follow immediately after, from 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the same location. It will be a time for family, friends, and the community to come together, share stories, and celebrate the beautiful soul Diane was.
