Bob Roe began his professional journey as an ice cream maker at his father’s dairy after graduating from Morningside College. However, it was a simple desire to get a pizza for his children that led him to venture into the pizza business. In 1977, Roe made a significant move by converting the westside location of his father’s dairy into the now-famous “West Side Pizza” establishment.

Buffalo Wings and Presidential Encounters

In 1984, Roe’s oldest daughter made a fortuitous connection with the individual responsible for creating the iconic buffalo wings at the famous Anchor Bar in Buffalo, New York. Capitalizing on this opportunity, Roe introduced buffalo wings to his menu, and they quickly became a fan favorite. One of his establishments, “Point After,” gained immense popularity for its “Wing’s Wednesday” promotion, where they sold up to 5,000 wings a night. The success of this venture even brought Roe face-to-face with a remarkable visitor in 2012 when he had the pleasure of meeting President Barack Obama at the “Point After.”
