Resident’s House Shot in Quiet Area of Arnaud Township

A resident of Arnaud Township, whose house was struck by a bullet on Friday, expressed his stress and concern over the incident. “It’s very stressful, and it’s all I can think about,” he said. He urged the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police, emphasizing the importance of community involvement.

A Surprising Turn of Events in Arnaud Township

While aware of recent violent incidents in the region, the resident never anticipated such a situation occurring in the peaceful area of Arnaud Township.

“I never expected to experience such a stressful situation here,” he confided.

On Friday, just after 4 p.m., a white SUV entered the resident’s yard, located near Végétarien along Route 138. After a while, the driver, who initially appeared to be attempting a U-turn, got out of the vehicle to inspect it.

The resident stood in his patio door, observing the scene. He opened the door, and his dogs began to bark. The driver of the car then returned to the driver’s seat.

“At that moment, a light blue compact car, coming from Port-Cartier, fired several gunshots towards the white SUV,” he described.

Initially, he thought the sound of the shots was a mechanical issue with the blue car. “But I quickly realized that what I had witnessed were gunshots aimed at my house.”

Both vehicles “raced towards Sept-Îles,” he noted.

The resident promptly contacted the police. It was only later that he discovered a bullet had pierced the glass of his front door.

“If I had been in that spot, I wouldn’t have been able to testify.”

Investigation Continues as Information Remains Scarce

Regarding the event, the Sûreté du Québec has provided limited details.

The scene investigation has concluded, according to Hélène St-Pierre, spokesperson for the SQ, who added that the investigation is ongoing.

No arrests have been made at this time. The investigators have not requested the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects or the vehicles involved in the shooting, St-Pierre stated.
