Los Angeles: John Bush, a talented Emmy-winning producer known for his work on popular animated shows such as ‘The Simpsons,’ ‘Family Guy,’ and ‘X-Men: Evolution,’ has passed away at the age of 69, as reported by the Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday.
Bush, who had an illustrious career in the entertainment industry, left a lasting impact on the world of animated television. His contributions to shows like ‘King of the Hill,’ ‘New Looney Tunes,’ ‘Scooby-Doo! and the Gourmet Ghost,’ and ‘Brave Little Toaster’ flicks have been widely recognized and appreciated.
Tragically, Bush succumbed to B-cell lymphoma of the brain stem on November 23, at Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles, according to his close friend Kevin Bannerman. The news of his passing has left the industry and fans devastated.
In 2001, Bush received the prestigious Emmy Award for his outstanding work on ‘The Simpsons.’ He shared this honor with esteemed colleagues James L. Brooks, Matt Groening, and Al Jean. John Bush was born on July 6, 1954, in Albert Lea, Minnesota. At the age of six, he moved to Tokyo with his family and attended The American School in Japan before continuing his education at Chofu High School. He later pursued a major in theatre arts at San Francisco State College.
Throughout his college years and beyond, Bush actively participated in musicals, making a notable appearance in the musical revue Beach Blanket Babylon from 1981 to 1983. Even after his move to Los Angeles, he continued to pursue his passion for acting and even won a substantial sum of $20,000 on the popular game show Super Password. Additionally, he gained valuable producing experience during his time at Vestron Productions.
Aside from his remarkable career, Bush was highly involved in the LGBT rights community in both San Francisco and Los Angeles. He had a deep appreciation for all types of films, with a special fondness for musicals starring iconic actresses such as Barbra Streisand and Julie Andrews, as shared by Bannerman.
