Bhubaneswar: Former Lok Sabha MP Anadi Sahu, aged 83, breathed his last on Saturday at his residence in Cuttack. According to family sources, Sahu had been suffering from age-related ailments.

Anadi Sahu was a prominent figure in Odisha’s political landscape. He had the honor of being elected to the Lok Sabha twice, representing the Cuttack constituency in 1996 as a Congress candidate and the Berhampur constituency in 1999 on a BJP ticket.

Sahu’s political career took an interesting turn when he resigned from the Indian Police Service (IPS) and decided to contest the 1996 general elections as a Congress candidate against the former Chief Minister Biju Patnaik for the Cuttack Lok Sabha seat. Although he initially faced defeat by a margin of 57,807 votes, he later emerged victorious in a by-election.
