Shawn Barber had an impressive career as a pole vaulter, starting at the University of Akron where he achieved back-to-back NCAA indoor championships in 2014 and 2015. He also won the NCAA outdoor crown in 2015 and went on to clinch gold at the Pan-Am Games later that summer.
