Obituary – Death – Cause of Death News : The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office and Plano Police Department have released 911 audio and body camera footage of a home invasion that resulted in the tragic death of a Plano man. 70-year-old Russell Novak called 911 to report a missing shotgun and signs of forced entry before a shot was heard in the background. A neighbor also called 911 after hearing the shot. Body camera footage shows an officer approaching the home and ordering a green SUV to stop, leading to a pursuit that ended in an officer-involved shooting in Aurora.

The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Nicholas Novak, pointed a shotgun at officers before they exchanged gunfire, resulting in his death. Police revealed that the two Novaks knew each other, indicating that the incident was not random. Illinois State Police are investigating the shooting, and the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office will review the findings.
