The Irvine Police Department is currently investigating the tragic homicide of a 38-year-old Irvine resident, John Alexander Bash III, who was found deceased in his home early this morning. The victim, who used a wheelchair for mobility, was discovered with apparent stab wounds by his caregiver at around 2:15 a.m. The caregiver immediately contacted 9-1-1 after finding the victim bloody and unresponsive.

Upon arriving at the scene, IPD officers also found an unoccupied gold Honda minivan that had crashed into the garage door of the residence. Shindle was seen holding a knife and proceeded to advance towards the officers, prompting an officer-involved shooting.
