Houston police are currently investigating the death of a man found at 702 Girard Street on Wednesday night. The man has been identified as 56-year-old Damon Spiller, according to the Houston Police Department (HPD).

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Stroble and Detective K. Collier reported that HPD patrol officers and Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the address after an unresponsive man was found in a residence. Sadly, the Houston Fire Department pronounced Spiller deceased with no apparent signs to indicate the cause of death at that time.
An autopsy conducted by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences later determined that Spiller’s cause of death was due to a gunshot wound. Detectives believe that a gunshot was fired from the area of the East Freeway ramp from the North Freeway lanes.
