Louis, said in a statement that “my heart goes out to the victims and their families of this senseless act of violence.”

“Thank you to the Secret Service for their quick action to protect the president and attendees,” Luetkemeyer said.

Missouri Gov. Mike Parson also offered his thoughts and prayers to the victims and their families.

“Violence has no place in our society, and we must do all we can to prevent it from happening in the future,” Parson said in a statement.

“We must come together as a country to condemn these acts of violence and work towards a more peaceful and united future,” the governor said.

As the investigation into the shooting continues, Hawley said he’s hopeful that Congress can act quickly to uncover the truth.

“This is a moment for us to come together and find out what really happened,” Hawley said. “We’ve got to get to the bottom of this, and we’ve got to do it quickly. The American people deserve no less.”
