State police are currently investigating a tragic incident that took place on Interstate 84, resulting in the death of a Manchester man. The incident occurred early Saturday morning, when troopers from Troop C in Tolland responded to reports of a crash involving a pedestrian near Exit 85 in Vernon.

According to officials, the victim, identified as John Kaszowski, 65, was struck by a 2010 Nissan Altima with a New York plate while lying in the travel lane for unknown reasons. Despite efforts to save him, Kaszowski succumbed to his injuries.
The crash led to the temporary closure of the Eastbound side of the highway in Vernon, causing disruptions for several hours. Thankfully, the road has since been reopened, thanks to the efforts of the Connecticut Department of Transportation.
