Accident – Death – Obituary News :
A 26-year-old IT professional from Maharashtra, India, tragically drowned while on vacation with friends at Glacier National Park in Montana, USA. The victim, identified as Siddhant Vitthal Patil, worked in California and was enjoying a hike on Avalanche Lake Trail when the incident occurred.
According to the National Park Service, Patil, a technology professional, was hiking above the gorge on June 6 when he fell off a large rock into Avalanche Creek. It remains unclear whether Patil slipped on a wet portion of the rock or lost his balance, leading to the fatal fall.
Witnesses, including his friends, saw Patil go underwater and resurface before being swept away by the strong current into the gorge. Despite extensive search efforts, including aerial searches by helicopters and drone surveillance, Patil’s body has not been recovered and is presumed to be trapped by submerged obstacles in the deep and turbulent waters.

Continuous Monitoring and Search Efforts
Rangers are diligently monitoring the area and recovering personal items that have washed downstream. Due to the challenging conditions of the gorge, including whitewater and submerged obstacles, the search for Patil’s body has been difficult.
Ground search efforts are ongoing from the gorge to the bridge on Trail of the Cedars, as authorities strive to locate and retrieve Patil’s remains for his grieving family.
Family Devastated by Tragic Loss
Patil, who lived and worked in California, had texted his mother just two hours before the accident, expressing plans to return to San Jose where he was employed at Cadence Design Systems within three days.
His friends provided the Park rangers with his iPhone IMEI numbers from the phone box in his room to aid in the search efforts, although this has not yet yielded results. Patil’s mother, Priti, and father, Vitthal, who recently retired from the Maharashtra government’s irrigation department, are in a state of shock and unable to comment on the tragedy.
Education and Career Background
Patil moved to the US in 2020 to pursue his Master of Science degree at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He later joined Cadence Design Systems in 2023, where he was employed at the time of his untimely death.
The family and friends of Siddhant Vitthal Patil mourn his loss and remember him as a bright and talented individual whose life was cut short in a tragic accident at Glacier National Park.
