Accident – Death – Obituary News : A suspect involved in an incident at a pizza restaurant earlier this week has been charged in connection to the tragic death of a deputy in the Houston area who was pursuing him.

Authorities from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an aggravated assault at a Little Caesars Pizza establishment just after 10 p.m. on Wednesday. The suspect, identified as 44-year-old Ronald Palmer, reportedly became agitated after receiving an incorrect order and proceeded to verbally attack and physically assault an employee before fleeing the scene, according to Chief Deputy Mike Lee.

Following the incident, law enforcement launched a manhunt for Palmer based on the description of his getaway vehicle provided by the employee. Deputy Fernando Esqueda played a crucial role in locating the suspect’s car, but tragically, he was ambushed during the operation. Other detectives in the vicinity discovered Esqueda’s undercover vehicle with multiple bullet holes, indicating that he had been shot multiple times. Despite efforts to save him, the 28-year-old deputy succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital.

Esqueda, who had been a member of the Violent Person Task Force within the sheriff’s office for five years, was remembered for his dedication to duty and sacrifice by Sheriff Ed Gonzalez. The law enforcement community, as well as Esqueda’s family and friends, are mourning his loss during this challenging time.

Ronald Palmer was apprehended the following day by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office without further incident. He had been added to the Most Wanted Fugitive List and is now facing charges of capital murder in connection with Esqueda’s death, as well as for the initial aggravated assault.

Sheriff Gonzalez expressed gratitude to the Houston Police Department and other public safety partners for their assistance in apprehending Palmer. He shared a touching sentiment from one of Esqueda’s close friends, who remarked that the fallen deputy would be proud of the successful resolution of the case.

In conclusion, the swift actions of law enforcement in capturing the suspect and bringing him to justice serve as a testament to the dedication and resilience of those who serve and protect the community. The memory of Deputy Esqueda will forever be honoured for his commitment to duty and the ultimate sacrifice he made in the line of duty.
