Authorities in Springfield, Massachusetts, have apprehended two individuals following a shooting incident that targeted a residence in broad daylight on Wednesday.

The Springfield police department received a ShotSpotter alert around 12:35 p.m., prompting officers to respond to the 0-100 block of James Street where they discovered a house had been struck by bullets.

After gathering information about the suspects and the vehicle believed to be involved, law enforcement officials traced the perpetrators to a property on the 0-100 block of Granville Street.

Upon arrival at the Granville location, officers located the suspect vehicle, which had been reported stolen.

Subsequently, 18-year-old Roberto Pagan, one of the suspects, was found outside the Granville property. Police recovered the key to the allegedly used vehicle from Pagan, along with a mask and medical gloves.

The second suspect, a 16-year-old individual, was found inside the residence. Both Pagan and the juvenile were taken into custody.

Pagan, a Springfield resident, faces charges including discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, malicious destruction of property less than $1,200, and receiving a stolen motor vehicle, according to authorities.

The juvenile suspect had previously been arrested on illegal firearms charges in December 2022, though police did not disclose the specific charges related to the recent incident.

An ongoing investigation is underway to further probe the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
