SULPHUR, La. (KPLC) – The Sulphur Police Department has officially released the identity of the suspect who was fatally shot by police during a manhunt in the area of Kent and Ginger Streets.

The suspect has been identified as Mark Alan Hayden Jr., aged 37.
The incident unfolded on the afternoon of July 11 when Sulphur police responded to a domestic violence call. Upon arrival, they discovered that Hayden had fled the scene and was armed, prompting a manhunt in the surrounding area. After hours of searching, Hayden was located in a shed, leading to an exchange of gunfire that resulted in his death.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting is currently ongoing. Louisiana State Police detectives are urging anyone with information, photos, or videos related to the incident to come forward and assist with the inquiry.
