After 26 days of intensive searching, a joint effort from Flathead County and Toole County successfully recovered the body of 17-year-old Kendall Danna from Great Falls. The recovery operation took place on Thursday, July 11, 2024.

The dedicated team brought Kendall’s body to shore and handed her over to the Toole County Coroner’s Office for further examination.

“The search efforts conducted by this recovery team were exceptional and greatly valued during this tragic period,” stated the Toole County Sheriff’s Office. “While these types of incidents are never easy to handle, the support and resources provided to our communities are limitless.”

The joint efforts of the Toole County Sheriff’s Office, Toole County Search and Rescue, Toole County Coroner, Gene and Sandy Ralston Underwater Recovery, Corey Reeves, Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, and Flathead County Sheriff’s Office/Search were instrumental in the successful recovery mission for Kendall.

SHELBY, Mont. – A collaborative search team utilizing underwater sonar equipment located what they believe to be human remains in Lake Elwell near Shelby.

The Toole County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that rescue divers deployed remote operated vehicles to retrieve the suspected human remains; however, due to challenging conditions and poor visibility at that depth, the object could not be recovered or positively identified.

The search crew will continue to investigate the incident further to provide closure for the family and friends of the missing teen.
