A harrowing incident unfolded in Palm Bay, Florida, as a mother and her boyfriend were tragically killed by the woman’s transgender child following disagreements regarding the teen’s gender transition. The suspect, identified as Julia Grace Egler, aged 16, confessed to the heinous act which shocked the community.

According to police reports acquired by WKMG, Egler was driven to commit the crime due to a combination of factors. Firstly, the mother, Kelley McCollom, reportedly disapproved of Egler’s gender transition. Additionally, Egler was troubled by McCollom’s relationship with a 22-year-old individual.

The violence escalated as Egler allegedly shot McCollom, aged 38, and her boyfriend, Matthew Szejnrok, aged 22, multiple times. Subsequently, the teen proceeded to stab Szejnrok repetitively before reloading the firearm and delivering a fatal shot to his head.

After the brutal murders, Egler made a distressing 911 call and attempted to stage the scene as a failed burglary. However, thorough investigation by authorities uncovered evidence contradicting the fabricated story. Eventually, Egler admitted to the killings.

Previous Incidents of Violence involving Transgender Individuals

This disturbing incident adds to a series of violent acts carried out by transgender individuals, as previously documented by The Dallas Express.

One such case involved Mia Bailey, a 28-year-old biological male who identifies as female, arrested in Utah for allegedly committing parricide just last month.

In another tragic event, Audrey Hale, a 28-year-old biological female who identifies as male, was responsible for the deaths of six individuals at the Covenant School in Tennessee last year.

Similarly, Anderson Lee Aldrich, a biological male identifying as nonbinary, caused the loss of five lives at an LGBTQ club in Colorado in 2022.

Maya McKinney, a biological female identifying as male, was involved in a fatal incident at a Denver area charter school in 2019, resulting in one death and multiple injuries.

Furthermore, Snochia Moseley, a biological female identifying as male, committed a tragic act resulting in the deaths of three individuals outside a Maryland warehouse in 2018.

Counterbalancing Perspectives

Despite these distressing incidents, Anthony Zenkus, a professor at Columbia, highlights contrasting data that challenges the notion of transgender individuals being predisposed to violence.

He tweeted, “4 shooters out of over 300 mass shooters since 2009 are transgender or nonbinary. That’s just 1.3% of all shooters. You just proved our point: 99% of mass shooters in the United States are cisgendered.”

According to the Williams Institute at the UCLA School of Law, transgender individuals constitute approximately 0.5% of the U.S. adult population.
